O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 10 The Rankening

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 10 The Rankening Franchise Pictures Born 1999, Deceased 2007 But its legacy of generally bad cinema continues in this final episode of Batch 2, The Rankening! Ryan and Nathan revisit the nine films we felt best represented the catalog of this fraud-prone production company as each of us construct a list in order of preference which we reveal one by one to the other party, complete with much shock and dismay as our differing opinions come to light. Thanks for joining us for this season finale. We reveal the subject of our forthcoming batch of episodes in the closing minutes, so skip to the end if you can’t handle the suspense. Will it be Alfred Hitchcock’s complete talkie filmography starting with Black Mail (1929)? No. But it could be literally anything else. O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 9 A Sound of Thunder

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 9 A Sound of Thunder Welcome to the final film in O.K. Video’s look back at Franchise Pictures, A Sound of Thunder, starring Edward Burns, Catherine McCormack and Krishna Pandit Bhanji (AKA Sir Ben Kingsley). Ride a time wave back to 2005 with us as we marvel at a pre-vis quality dinosaur, some bold predictions about the direction of automobile design and a plot hole so big Nathan fell right into it. Ray Bradbury envisions a world where time travel is real but only the super-rich can afford to make use of it, which really seems like how it would go now that I think about it. Hopefully they don’t leave the path and transform us all into geckos. Next week is our ranking episode where we revisit the whole batch and bicker some about how we felt it stacked up. If you want to have a question answered on the show, email ryan@okvideo.ca or nathan@okvideo.ca Thanks for listening! -N

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 8 Battlefield Earth

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 8 Battlefield Earth We try to keep things focused here at O.K. Video, but the sheer amount of incredulity that had to be burned through in order to adequately discuss Franchise Pictures crowning "achievement", Battlefield Earth, took time. Time that Ryan and Nathan were happy to spend as this movie is something else. John Travolta's passion project, L. Ron Hubbard's last major work of science fiction, Forest Whitaker's stepping stone to an Academy Award six years later. Kim Coates beating his chest, Barry Pepper's lack of facial hair, Roger Christian's return to scrappy, under-budgeted sci-fi, all this and more is featured in this very podcast episode. Thank-you for joining us. If you have questions you'd like read and answered on a future episode, please email nathan@okvideo.ca -N

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 7 The Art of War

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 7 The Art of War Sun Tzu may be gone, but the spirit of his defining work lives on in this Wesley Snipes political thriller, The Art of War. Bootleg Ethan Hunt has to solve the mystery behind James Hong's assassination. Will Kyle Reese be of any help? Will Donald Sutherland be able to teach the children about the importance of the United Nations? Ryan and Nathan puzzle over these and other questions in this week's study of the Franchise Pictures filmography.  If you have any questions for us, email ryan@okvideo.ca or nathan@okvideo.ca  Thanks for listening and have a great week.  -N

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 6 3000 Miles to Graceland

O.K. Video Batch 2 Episode 6 3000 Miles to Graceland The stunt-casting-est, gun blasting-est, chrome scopion-est movie of the batch is here! Demian Lichtenstein’s 3000 Miles to Graceland is a much needed update to The Wild Bunch , touting better costumes, better actors (Ernest  Borgnine vs David Arquette? NO CONTEST) and a way better scorpion intro. Elvis “The King” Presley and his mythological presence on the landscape of Americana is the heart and soul of this heist thriller, starring Kurt Russell as Mike and Kevin Costner as Murph, two illegitimate Kings with different codes. Which scorpion will prevail? Thanks for joining Ryan and Nathan as we continue to explore the catalog of Franchise Pictures. If you have questions or feedback, email ryan@okvideo.ca and (or?) nathan@okvideo.ca -N
